AI Psychology and Ethics

The track opens by addressing a foundational gap: the necessity of embedding Human-AI Interaction within established psychological theory. Moving beyond descriptive observations, our Research Deep Dive features internal and external scholars from European institutions presenting empirical work on the various variables of the human-machine dyad in different technological environments. Topics include the calibration of trust, the social interactions of companion AI, the role of AI in inclusive education, and the interpersonal dynamics in the Human-AI teaming context.

To provide a perspective on the future of the field, the Next Gen Stage showcases current student work from the ZHAW’s inaugural "Humans & AI" subject area supervised by Dr. Marisa Tschopp head of AI Psychology sector. These projects investigate gen-AI applications, including LLM-mediated dyadic coaching, the relationship between AI literacy and anthropomorphism, and the potential of AI in therapeutic contexts.

The track concludes with a synthesis of the descriptive and the normative. Our closing keynote argues that academic integrity in AI Psychology and ethical responsibility are (or should be) inseparable. By establishing ethics as a foundational requirement rather than a peripheral constraint, this session aims to outline a research and practice agenda for sustainable, truly human-centric innovation.
