AI in Financial Services & beyond

The session is divided into two parts, each addressing a distinct aspect of AI’s impact on the financial services sector, with a focus on the AI transformation within leading Swiss AI players in the financial Services industry.

Part I examines recent trends in the financial services sector, with a focus on the transformative potential of AI—especially agentic AI systems for process optimization. It will also address the organizational implications and risks involved in transforming large institutions. Key questions include: Which technologies are needed? How will advances in large language models reshape the application landscape? What role will sovereign AI play? And how will teams and skill profiles need to evolve, particularly in functions such as risk and compliance?

Part II can support domain-specific applications, namely in Sustainable Finance and Commodity Trading. It will showcase how AI techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation, geospatial analytics, natural language processing, and hybrid machine learning, including ESG controversy verification, gold mine risk assessment, and European natural gas trading.
