AI for Education

Overview

AI in education is moving rapidly from research prototypes to systems used by teachers, learners, and education providers. This track brings together researchers and industry leaders from ETH Zurich, EPFL, CMU, GoStudent, and Sparkli to examine how these technologies can meaningfully support teaching and learning.

Through four focused talks and an interactive panel discussion, the session connects human-AI complementarity, the real-world deployment of virtual teaching assistants, multimodal data from human tutoring, and generative AI learning experiences beyond chatbots. Speakers will share research and industry perspectives on how educational AI can be designed, deployed, and scaled while preserving the essential roles of teachers and learners.

Key Questions

  • How can AI complement human expertise in teaching and learning?
  • What does it take to deploy AI effectively in real educational settings?
  • What can real tutoring interactions and multimodal data teach us about building educational AI?
  • How can generative AI support learning experiences that go beyond chatbots?
  • What opportunities and challenges will shape the future of AI in education, from research to real-world practice?
